Casinos/Cardrooms in Canada
This March, a friend and I will be making a trip from Lansing, Michigan to Rochester, New York for a college visit. We are driving through Canada because that is the shortest route. We will be driving home the day of my 20th birthday so I also wanted to include a “fun” day into this trip. Besides I’ve never been to Canada before…legal drinking age of 19. We would like to find a casino in Canada to stay at for one night. Some friends will be driving that day from Michigan to meet us there, so we’d like it to be “on the way” for them as well. So, I was wondering if anyone knows of a casino other than Windsor because they don’t have poker yet, that would be somewhat convenient for us to go to. I guess the poker thing isn’t that big of a deal, but it would be much more fun if there was a cardroom. Thanks in advance for any responses!
btw....I am geography inept, so the more detail the better! |

Re: Casinos/Cardrooms in Canada
I'm assuming you'll be crossing the border into NY in Niagara Falls? Fallsview Casino has the only poker room in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Lots of hotel choices in the area. There's also Seneca Casino on the US side of Niagara Falls that has about 15 poker tables. But my choice would be Fallsview.

There is also a pretty soft 3/6 game at the Point Edward Charity Casino in Sarnia, but it usually only runs on weekends. The 5/10 can be pretty soft too.

Re: Casinos/Cardrooms in Canada
Casino Windsor's Poker Room called "Poker Place" opens to the public on February 11.
Casino Windsor The Niagara Fallsview has 8 tables but is not 24hrs yet Niagara Fallsview Brantford Charity Casino has 14 hold'em tables and advertises 24/7 Brantford Casino Point Edward Charity Casino has 8 tables. Mon-Wed 9am-4am, Thurs-Sun 24 hrs. Point Edward I recommend the Seneca Niagara, Niagara Falls USA. (my home b&m) they have 16 tables and are 24/7 but you do need to be 21 so you will have to wait a year. Seneca Niagara |

And every time I've been to Seneca Niagara there have been good games going and most if not all tables full. Is Fallsview better than I've heard in your opinion? |

Re: Casinos/Cardrooms in Canada
I agree, Seneca has the better poker room. It's OPs first time in Canada, and Niagara Falla Ontario has a lot more to offer in terms of entertainment and such.. Plus he's not of age to play in NY.

Re: Casinos/Cardrooms in Canada
I see. And I agree. The Canadian side of the falls is much nicer in general, no argument there. And they do ID people on the US side. I forgot about the whole 21 thing. Been quite a while since I've had to worry about it.

Re: Casinos/Cardrooms in Canada
I think we might end up at Windsor due to the fact that it's the closest to the Michigan/Canada border. My friends that are meeting us there are coming from central Michigan so I don't want to make them drive that far. Are there other options of casinos that would be about the same distance for them that still have cardrooms? Another off topic thing: has anyone ever gone through the tunnel at the border before? I'm pretty claustrophobic and I really hate bridges, so I'm kind of nervous about that whole thing... Thanks for the help.

Re: Casinos/Cardrooms in Canada
I live in Ohio, - we go up to Windsor 1-2x per year, Niagara too.
I always, always take the bridge - trust me it's no big deal. |
