Default WPT Event at Borgata (Side Games Question)

The WPT is comming to town. There will be some smaller NL tournies followed by the $10,000 main even that lasts a few days. I can't be there for the main even because I start my job on the 18th. However, there will be about a week before that when I'm free and they are running tournaments.

I've decided I don't want to do the tournies. Seems I'll be plunking down $1,000 to play in a big MTT with lots of variance even if I have an edge. Plus I want the freedom to come and go. However, I've always heard stories that the side games at these tournments tend to be really juicy.

Has anyone had experience with playing cash games at the same casino as a big tournament. Are they better then usual? Is it only during the main event or do you find good games in the run up?

the cash games in AC are always juicy. unless you are playing $40-80 or higher there will be no real difference except even longer waits to get on a table.

I played in the side games at this year's WSOP during the main event. The games were soft, but I agree with highlife, I don't think it makes a difference unless you're playing high (in which case I have no idea but I would speculate that it might be better). The small and medium stakes live are soft enough already.

Do you like to play? Have you given up things, sacrificed things to play poker? If that is the case, you will be at every tournament you can make, for the side games action.
