Well, I see two options:

re-raise
call, and bet big on a safe turn card

btw, wouldn't 16 be the minimum raise for him on the flop?

I'd likely make it $40 here and not put another dime in the pot if I'm called.

These are the two lines that first came to me. I'm just wondering which is better? I feel lost if I just reraised here, opponent called, and I'm OOP on the turn. Do we then just check/fold the turn?

I assume he minraised to $16. In my experience, minraises often mean either a good hand looking for more action or a drawing hand looking for a free card.

If villain has PFR% of 13, I'd imagine he probably open-raises 88/99/QQ preflop from MP. Hands he'd limp there are more like KQ, JT, QJ, 98, T9, 77-22, weak aces, and the like.

Against this range, I'd say you're most likely against a flush draw or a pair of queens (or maybe even a lower pair testing your flop bet to see if you were continuing after a missed AK/AJ or something). Reraise to $35 or $40 and put the tough decision on the villain. He might not be able to lay down a losing hand, and you'll take down a big pot. If he's drawing to a flush and misses the turn, he'll get another uncomfortable situation when you put him to a decision for most or all of his chips.

If he reraises you again on the flop, you're beaten and should fold.

You think so? I can see a drawing hand in position leading out after a check as a semi-bluff, because the bet serves more purposes than just getting a free card on the next street. But minraising when the original bettor leads out with a PSB? He's pretty sure that he's gonna be called or raised here.

I don't see much use for the minraise here, other than getting more money in the pot, or a weak-ass attempt to protect his top pair / trying to pick off a continuation bet.

So the real question is: is this a lousy attempt to pick up the pot, or is he value betting his hand?
