I did one last summer at Trump Marina - pay $20, get t-shirt, win as many chips as you can in 15 hands and the wait for results at end of the night. of course I sucked ass but basically the idea is to bet as aggressively as possible (double downs and splits, including face cards) and either rack up huge wins or bust out at the end. if you've ever done a slot machine tournament you'll know that these things are 99.9% luck and 0.1% skill, well, maybe 0.2% for blackjack.
if you're already a listed player in the casino's database, they'll probably send you a mailing ahead of time. otherwise, try checking the web sites and see if they're advertising anything online. hell, a recording of former heavyweight champ Larry Holmes was on my answering machine message today talking about some "punch-board" contest in AC (punch, get it? ha ha). tournaments of the non-poker variety don't usually make the casino's money, rather it is a marketing expenditure for their "good" players. so don't necessarily expect to just walk up to one on a whim.
