Only guess I have is that the board paired on the river, giving him a house (Cause he had a set).
IF that happened, you played it fine. You had the nuts and got your chips in, and someone else did as well. The fact that he caught a 2 outer is just a bummer. Well played though. Nick |

OK, I got to get better about not posting hands until the steam stops coming out of my ears.
Yes, he filled on the river with 33 and a 6 hit. Mathmatically, I know I made the right play - he was only getting a little less than 2:1 on a 3.4:1 shot. I guess my question is is in the early stages of a tournament - is it ever right to simply call down in a situation like this or is the correct play to ALWAYS push-in with the current nut hand? I knew he had trips, but knowing that, do you take any defensive action to the 22% chance you could lose the pot in the interest of maintaining some kind of chip position - or do you just go for it every time? For example, I could have bet a lesser amount, like 800, which would have still made his call incorrect, but left me some chips to make the judgement with with the board paired... I don't know - I'm just on a bad run lately and getting frustrated. Trying to get better a hand at a time. Peace, Ritter |

Nut flush? PUSH! You got all the chips in the middle with way the best of it. Just bad luck. At least you didn't have to waste 2 hours like I just did Better luck next time.

You gotta be kiddin me.........
I've had lots of fools take me out early in the $200NL. It just defies logic the way they play against you. So, although I usually advise caution, there's no way you can pass up this fine opportunity to double up. Better luck next time....... |

These guys are right. This is a good hand that just got beat. Most of the time in tourneys, when you are eliminated, it will be from bad beats. Don't let it get to you. Join another tourney and keep going. You only need to finish top 3 a few times per 40-80 tourneys to really build your bankroll.
Don't sweat all of the many bad beats and Good Luck. |

I would have laid it down in a heartbeat ... just kidding, that would have been the hand to burn me to the ground if someone made the straigh flush .. and especially if someone made a full house
