Dumb, smart or neutral? Never tried this before with less than KK. Early, this is my 5th table so far in about 40 hands so no reads.
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t50 (9 handed) converter Hero (t2665) UTG+1 (t3195) MP1 (t1660) MP2 (t3675) MP3 (t2760) CO (t2740) Button (t4670) SB (t3400) BB (t2795) Preflop: Hero is UTG with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Hero calls t50, UTG+1 calls t50, 2 folds, MP3 calls t50, CO calls t50, Button calls t50, SB raises to t100, BB calls t50, Hero raises to t2665 Stupid overbet or pwning limpers? |

Raising here is fine IMO, put is a push necessary?

I think the push is OK here. It is a big overbet of like 8x pot, but you want to push with AK.
A smaller reraise or a flat call are also possible. |

That's why I posted. I hadn't counted on so many limpers, otherwise I'd have happily played a little postflop. Plus I thought a push might get some nervous pairs to fold, and some hands I dominate to call.

I dont think its worth risking your entire stack on AKo here. I could understand it if the blinds are bigger, and if you have a strong read on the players, but neither is the case here. If you pick up this pot, it will increase your stack by less than 1/6. If you get called youll be behind way more often then your ahead. I think a raise to 850 does the job here. If you do get called, most likley it will be by the SB who you have now isolated. You have position on him. A continuation bet if checked to probably will take down the pot. I think the risk is too big for the reward.
BTW, the SB min-raise looks fishy. If he happens to come over the top of you all-in, your able to give him credit for AA,KK and get out without losing your stack. (although youve lost 1/3) |
