Default Where is the best place to stay in Atlantic City

I want to gamble (ultra low limit poker and Black Jack)and my wife wants to do other stuff (shows etc). I was thinking the Tropicana followed up by Bally's. Any other suggestions? Are there any places that are much better?

What, to you, is ultra low limit?

$1-2 or $2-4. I would guess that these are about as low as it gets in the casino's. I have about $100-200/day to work with (staying for 4-5 days)and I want to be able to have enough BB's to hang.

Borgata usually has 2-4 limit games, and is by far the nicest hotel in A.C. They have a very nice comfortable poker room as well.

Not sure if any of the AC casinos have 1-2 tables.

Ive never been to AC so Im not sure how much of a pain it is to get around. Is the fact that it is 1 mile away from the boardwalk a big drawback? Is it tough to get a cab or is there any reason to even want to get to the other casinos?

it is easy to get a cab and they are pretty cheap. it is very tough to get on a table at teh borgata and every time ive been there the blackjack is $25 and up. The trop just redid their hotel...if you are staying any part midweek, the rooms are something like 40 bucks/night. the casino isnt great but it is easy to get on a table in the poker room for the most part. it is on the boardwalk too which is good for walking around.
ballys is the most central location with a poker room and is connected to the claridge, wild west and caesars all indoors which is a plus in the winter. The poker room there is smoking which is annoying after a while if you dont smoke but the games are soft.

The Tropicana is a good choice for what you want. They've also recently opened a new wing called "The Quarter", which is supposed to look like old Havana. Nice rooms, good restaurants, and the poker room has plenty of low limit games.

Weekend nights you wont find anything less than $25 - During the weekday the Borgata has $5 and $10 minimum blackjack tables, and they are usually pretty easy to get on.

yeah, I hear that the rooms that were redone at the tropicana are nice but that the ones that were not redone are crap. Does Caesars or Balleys have cheaper Black Jack? I can handle 2-4 Limit poker but $25 is too much for BJ.

What about entertainment at some of these places. Do they all have shows etc?

You heard wrong. The older rooms are far from "crap". As for the blackjack, there are still a couple of $5 minimum tables in town, mostly in the daytime. I think Resorts might be one of them but your best bet would be to do a search. I think there's a site devoted to blackjack in AC, or at least one with reviews of the different games there. Good luck.
