Default Top and middle pair in a big pot vs Rock, FPS

Live game. SB is a Rock - aggressive with his huge hands but overly tight otherwise. Button tries way too hard to be tricky - he is probably a winning player overall at this game, but I've played with him enough times to know when he is FOS.

Hero is the BB with K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
4 callers, SB raises, Hero calls, all call
Pot: 11.5 BB

I called this raise from the rock because of the huge pot odds (11:1 minus the rake). Without the dead money, I instamuck this hand.

Flop: 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

SB Bets, Hero raises, 2 folds, Button 3-bets, all call.
Pot: 10.25 BB

I have seen Button 3-bet in position with a wide variety of hands in the past - bottom pair TK, gutshots with a backdoor flush, the stone cold nuts, et cetera. More often than not, though, his button raises mean he needs to improve and wants to take control of the hand.

Turn: K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
SB checks, Hero checks, Button bets, SB calls, Hero raises...

I check/raised because I really felt that my hand was best here, and I saw no way to protect it. My plan was to lead a blank river if called, and to call down and then evaluate the river action if Button reraised.

The rest of the turn and river action to come.

ummm, there's two 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] in the deck, that's news to me. anywho, I like the turn play, you're good here a lot so it works for me, the sb has been on the passive side with all of the action, so I don't think that he is uberstrong here

HA - yeah, was a non-standard deck. Three A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] and a suit of purple horseshoes as well

Yeah, there was definitely not a second 8 of diamonds on the flop. Too late to edit my post though.

Good to know I at least got my money in with the best of it, and that people seem to agree with my line.

Button folded to my turn checkraise, SB called. River was the 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], making the board

5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

SB checks, I bet, SB checkraises, and I make the crying call.

Yuck

This hand was followed shortly thereafter by a set over set beat convinced me that it was time to go home.

Oh well. On to the next session we go
