Re: Holdem (and/or Omaha) vs. Stud
In one of the essays in Sklansky on Poker, David Sklansky looks over the question of which game requires the most skill (the same essay where he says that stud hi-lo declare is the most skillful game, possibly tied by no-limit hold em). In it, he says that stud is more difficult to learn, but once you learn the basic strategy, it is a relatively easy money maker. But according to some definitions of skill, hold em is more skillful because seven card stud has more situations in which your play is automatic, dicatated by what cards are out and what cards you hold, while in hold em, you are, on average, faced with more feasible options any time you have to make a decision.
So, basically, seven card stud has a more complicated basic strategy and a more complicated data set, since you must keep track of folded cards, while hold em has a more complicated decision tree. Or, one has more complicated information to process, the other has a more complicated way of making decisions based on the available information.
