Default Neteller, currencies and cheques

Hi,

I am finally going to dig into my bankroll to fund a holiday and relocation back to Australia, which should keep my wife happy about my poker playing for a long while =)

I asked Neteller support what currency a cheque would be sent to me here in Ireland (my account is in pounds) they said Euro's, and that when I move to Australia it will be in Aussie dollars.

My concern is that others have mentioned that the cheques are hard to cash, especially in Australia, is this correct?

If the cheque's are a problem I may have to consider the ATM card (looks like nasty fees).

Any help is appreciated.
Granite

IMO you don't want to be running around trying to cash checks. I believe there is a wire transfer option, with reasonable fees, if you have a bank account. If not, I'd go with the neteller ATM card, and get the money IN MY HAND.

Hi Granite,

I get my checks in US dollars & have no real problems.
Check takes about 10 daysish to arrive then bank takes about a month to clear the check, overall it takes about 6 weeks til you get your hands on the money. Neteller charge $2 USD and my bank charges me $10 AUD, bearing in mind I only cash around a thousandish AUD at a time. I have heard some banks here do charge more IE $50 & ask alot of questions, but I have never had any problems.
And yes, I am now looking into the Neteller ATM card thingy as well.

Thanks for the replies. I figure I will get the atm card, and if the fees start getting ridiculous I will cancel it.

Cheers,
Granite

The card is the way to go, go for it.

Templeton, which bank do you use?

mine (national) doesn't like my cheques and now I use the ATM card, fees aren't too bad and you can get your $$$ in 15 min instead of 6 weeks.
