Default What the hell is VP$IP?

I am an experienced and fairly well read poker player, but I have no clue what VP$IP is.... thanks

so that is basically a measure of looseness? variance? what are its implications, should i have a low vp$ip?

It's a measure of how often you play your cards pre-flop. It includes limping and raising from any position as well as completing your SB. It DOES not include the forced blinds. Typically, it should be in the 15-21% range for a full ring game. People on these boards prefer the "looser" range for lower stakes games and gradually tighten up as the move up in limits.

It measures Looseness.

If your VP$IP is too high, you're seeing too many flops (for whatever reason)and either need to tighten up your starting hand requirements, tighten up your BB raising requirements, are completing too much from the SB, etc.
