Default ESPN & MLB Sign New 8-Year TV Deal (through 2013)

It seems baseball is going to be on ESPN for a long time. And, they're bringing back Monday Night Baseball. When I was a kid, I thought ABC's Monday Night Baseball was far more important and impressive than Monday Night Football.

With about an extra $100 million in revenues coming to MLB each year, salaries should be going up a bit in the short term.

I disagree with this. I think the "big" game was the Saturday afternoon game on NBC with Garagiola and Kubek (I'm talking late 70s-early 80s).

Also, didn't the MNB opening always show Chris Chambliss' game-winner against the Royals from the '76 LCS? I think if I was a Royals fan, I'd've really hated that show.

I don't know if this is correct or not (I'm a yungin'), but wasn't baseball more popular than football during the 70s and 80s?

Isn't Monday Night Football moving to ESPN in a few years? I assume that Monday Night Baseball ends when football season begins.

Excellent, anything that keeps baseball on ESPN means less games on the local fox affiliate.
