Do you hold back?
Inspired by similar posts on other forums. Many of us have logged a lot of table hours together, I know I have played with Beer, Roland, Lstream, Chef, Frappe, and others more then I can remember.
When posting hands or advice is there anything that you hold back? Have you ever used something you learned about a players play from one of their posts against them at the tables? I have never held back info in a post, partly because I am not that bright and dont have anything to hold back but I have supplemented my reads on some players due to their posts here. |

Re: Do you hold back?
I don't see the point of posting a hand that you weren't sure about, and then not telling people what your thoughts were - your answers will be less complete and less useful to you.

I meant generally responding to other people's posts if that makes sense.

Re: Do you hold back?
I think holding back will hold your own game back more than it will help improve others' against you. Maybe this changes at high limits where it's a small world, but at low & mid limits I think the focus should be on your own game rather than worrying about others. Anyways most of us will never make it to high limits.

Re: Do you hold back?
I should also say this is different from going around and teaching every donk who has played some poker (ie. Table coaches). But among serious players, I'm all for full disclosure.

Re: Do you hold back?
I don't hold back because some people are good theorists but very few are good at putting theory into practice. The vast majority of players do not have the discipline to follow through on what they may know to be correct.
One thing is certain, many people have a distorted view of their own play but that's what makes poker great. |
