Did I do the right thing?
2/4 game on Paradise.
I'm in middle position with 2 red jacks. All fold to me, I raise LMP and CO call button and SB fold BB calls we see the flop 5 handed. The flop comes [ 2h 3d 8c ]. BB bets, I raise LMP calls, CO folds and BB calls. The turn comes [8d] Making the board: [ 2h 3d 8c ][8d]. BB bets I call LMP raises BB re-raises. I fold here; I just couldn't believe I was still ahead. It certainly looked like one of or both my opponets had an 8. As it turns out, I folded a winner. The BB showed down a K3o for two pair 8's & 3's, and LMP shows down pocket 9's for 9's and 8's. I don't want to be results oriented, but this turned out to be nice big pot. I hadn't been at the game very long, so I didn't have a read on the players. Did I screw up or was this a decent fold? Thanks, |

Re: Did I do the right thing?
I think you made the right decision. Against 2 players who you don't know I think you will be behind often with all that action on the turn. If it were heads-up I would have called down but since it looks like a protected pot in your situation I think you made a good decision.

Re: Did I do the right thing?
I think you will be behind here the vast majority of the time. I think you can safely fold.

Re: Did I do the right thing?
When the typical 2-4 player stop-and-gos you on the turn after the top card on board pairs it's correct to raise him again and fold to any future aggression, including a second stop-and-go on the river. The first reason is that he could be testing you in case you might fold an overpair or if you just have overcards. The second reason is that he would usually try to checkraise you if he in fact turned trips. Of course, you'll want to check down the river after you do this.

Re: Did I do the right thing?
You would feel worse if you got whipsawed the rest of this street and on the river by 3s full of 8s and K8o.
Good fold Stu |
