Peak Oil
I've been trying to learn about this supposed peak oil crisis. So what does everyone think? Is this the super crisis that some make it out to be? Also, can someone knowledable give me some decent links to learn more? I've been searching and I keep getting conflicting info or sites in which I believe are scams, ie they are trying to sell something.

Re: Peak Oil
For accurate information do search under my name or Zeno's
Also goto: smalley.rice.edu/ watch the video and www.peakoil.net does a reasonable job as well. But some of their stuff is a bit off. Just make sure you know who is writing the article. www.sourcewatch.org is an invaluable tool. Yes, there is a lot of bunk information out there. One of the worst is www.junkscience.com. As for climate change, do a search in the archives on my name. It amazes me that people doubt it. I really don't have the energy to explain it over and over again. I might just make a website. |

Re: Peak Oil
Peak Oil is both a reality, and a bunch of nonsense.
The reality is that oil production will peak at some point, although the exact date is subject to debate. The nonsense comes fast and furious whenever any self-proclaimed Peak Oil voice starts talking about "solutions". When you hear things like we need an "apollo program for energy" or we need to "return to community based farming" or "we need massive restructuring of our energy economy", yo'ure listening to an idiot. natedogg |

Re: Peak Oil
Also I recomend reading Matthew Simmons work on Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia in crisis More here And the Hirsch report does a reasonable job of explaining the problem and discussing various alternative energies. Hirsch Report And you can read the article by Smalley I posted in the "The terawatt challenge" thread. |
