UTG- what to do
4 questions-
1) Is my raise too much UTG? 2) Should I have folded to his reraise or seen the flop? 3) Would you bet the turn? 4) Anyone lead into the river? Re: UTG- what to do
I dont like raising here utg. If the table was passive, you could try limping, otherwise i ditch it preflop. If you were going to raise, 3x is fine. Now your min-raised. You are getting goods odds to call, the problem is your putting half your stack in with a very marginal hand. I would fold to the reraise, there are too many re-rasing hands that dominate you.

Re: UTG- what to do
Hey, Dire-
Thanks for replying. Yeah, I thought the table was very passive and very weak. Not a lot of raises called. Being as though the blinds were next I thought I might be able to play them for free. Given the way the table had been going I expected maybe a call, there had been very very few reraises and I took the min reraise as more weakness (even Axs the way the table had been going). Re: UTG- what to do
i like to raise to t400 at the t150 level. i think most good players advocate something under 3x.
i'd fold pre-flop. i'd rather steal a worse hand in position. then i'd fold to the reraise. it's very rare that i'd fold getting such good odds, but i don't see you winning this pot if you don't flop a pair or flush draw, and you'll often lose the rest of your stack when you do. then i check-fold the whole way. your stack is too small to push villain off a hand like QQ, imo, and if i were him, i would be checking an Ax hand to induce a bluff (not sure if i would check the turn). check and hope that you somehow have the best hand. |

Re: UTG- what to do
schwza,
thanks for the reply. It that under 3x raise for the UTG position or any position? And is that based on the BB being 150? Could you point me in a direction for learning what a raise at a given blind level should be? Thanks much, yabastid |

Re: UTG- what to do
i can tell you how i raise...
10/15 - 10/20 - 4x bb 15/30 - 100 25/50 - 150 50/100 - 270 roughly 2.7x from there on out regardless of position. with 1 limper in, always at least 4x, often more like 4.5x, and somewhat more with more limpers in. hopefully others will weigh in as well. |

Re: UTG- what to do
schwza,
That's great to have, man, thanks. Makes things a little more concrete. I tend to be a bit erratic in my betting . I'm going to try this and would also like to here how others bet given blind levels. Take care, yabastid |
