Trying to defend my BB, and failing miserably
Villain here is a real agro 57/16/3.5, but only after 30 hands, so who knows if his stats are all that accurate.
Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx Preflop: Hero is BB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. 3 folds, Button raises, 1 fold, Hero calls. Flop: (4.33 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, Button bets, Hero raises, Button 3-bets, Hero calls. Turn: (5.16 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, Button bets, Hero raises, Button 3-bets, Hero calls. River: (11.16 BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, Button bets, Hero folds. Final Pot: 12.16 BB I was going to fold on the turn, but when I picked up my flush draw, I thought it might be good to try to semi bluff him. Should I just call on the turn? Should I give up on the flop? Should I fold preflop? I have been trying to defend more from the BB, but I am so confused as to what to do when you hit a no pair hand (which is quite often). |

Re: Trying to defend my BB, and failing miserably
I hear that semibluffing the turn is a [censored] idea when he just 3-bet the flop and didn't take his free card.

Re: Trying to defend my BB, and failing miserably
I'm probably not aggressive enough, but I fold the flop. Small pot, I've got nothing but an overcard. Do I really think he's betting at me with J-high or less?
On the turn, I'd just call. His 3-bet on the flop means something. Optionally, lead the turn and call a raise. I think you've got about the same fold equity with a lead as you do a check/raise and you see the river card for 1-2 bets rather than the 2-3 bets the check/raise costs. Again though, on the flop, you're fighting for 4SB. Is it really worth it? If you had 2 overcards or a backdoor straight draw to go with things (the 2-6 doesn't count), anything that gives you some more outs, I'd be more inclined to make him prove the steal is valid. |

Re: Trying to defend my BB, and failing miserably
I'd peel the flop, and possibly the turn, but this is the type of guy that you pound on when you have a hand and lay back when you don't have one. this is a classic spew
