I'm wondering what other people do with a hand like TPTK or an overpair when they are in early position in a raised pot. I frequently find myself in situations where I don't figure out my opponent has me beat until I've already built too big a pot to fold. Here are a couple sample hands (not necessarily hands where I'm beat), but any general advice would be helpful.
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 6 handed) converter Button ($39.95) SB ($24.50) BB ($21.99) Hero ($22.90) MP ($29.72) CO ($77.47) Preflop: Hero is UTG with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.10. Hero raises to $1, 1 fold, CO calls $1, 3 folds. Flop: ($2.35) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets $2, CO raises to $6. Final Pot: $10.35 Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 6 handed) converter Button ($25.60) SB ($76.90) BB ($24.55) Hero ($36.40) MP ($26.10) CO ($13.35) Preflop: Hero is UTG with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.10. Hero raises to $1, 2 folds, Button calls $1, SB (poster) calls $0.90, 1 fold. Flop: ($3.25) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, Hero bets $3, Button calls $3. Final Pot: $9.25 Assuming opponent is typical 25NL player, what is your plan for the rest of the hand (and what, if anything, should I have done different earlier)? |
