Cap pre-flop, check-fold on the flop
Can't remember ever doing this before.
30-60. Somebody raises up front, then a 3-bet from an A-B-C player, and a cold-call from a not-wild player. I have pocket kings in the small blind and cap. Big blind folds, the orginal raiser, 3-bettor and cold-caller all call. Four of us see the flop of A-Q-3 two-tone, the tone of which neither of my Kings is. We all check to the 3-bettor, who bets, cold caller calls and I fold. Ridiculous or sensible? |

Re: Cap pre-flop, check-fold on the flop
I've never check folded before, but I've bet and folded to a raise in a similar situation.

Re: Cap pre-flop, check-fold on the flop
Must be sensible. I saw the title and said to myself "He must've had KK against multiple opponents on an AQx flop."

Re: Cap pre-flop, check-fold on the flop
I always do this when I cap with QQ, or if the players are loose JJ. If the flop for QQ comes something like A K 3, there is no point in doing anything besides folding if you are up against two or more players. I would do the same thing in your situation.

Re: Cap pre-flop, check-fold on the flop
Before opening this thread, I was sure this would be a "cap with pocket kings, then fold when an ace flops and there is heavy action on the flop." I was close, I guess.
I think this fold is easier to make if you bet the flop, but given that both an ace and a queen flopped, I think you can pretty safely fold. I don't think I've done it either, but that does not make it incorrect. -Diplomat |

i thought andy jammed with T9s before the flop in multi-way action and folded when flop missed him by suit and ranks,

Re: Cap pre-flop, check-fold on the flop
if a king came on the turn, then you should have called on the flop. or maybe you should have called anyway since you were getting 18:1.

Re: Cap pre-flop, check-fold on the flop
The fact that the odds are so close makes it significant to worry about the fact the 3-better could have AA?

andy, it's so sensible and normal i wonder why you posted it.
i guess im not as fond of seeing KK to the showdown on an A high flop as some of you are (he snorted, glaring in clark and his flock's direction). |

True, you seem far more fond of seeing Q-high to showdown on ace-high flops. |
