Default Omaha 8 fish pool

With the popularity of Holdem due to TV, is it safe to assume that there is a substantially higher % of fish in the online Holdem games compared to Oamaha 8.

Admittedly, TV is what drew me into playing Holdem online. However, lately I started playing some O8 just to mix things up a bit and it seems that at the very low limits (1/2 and .5/1) O8 is easy money. For example, last night I played at a .5/1 O8 table for 90 minutes and I'd say 75% of the hands everyone (excpet me) saw the flop.

On a related note, given my experience playing O8 so far, I would deffinately recommend LL O8 to those looking to build a bankroll with little risk. The low limit players are attrocious in general and you have do know practically nothing except to play tight, to win money. I still don't know a ton about the intricacies of proper O8 play, but I don't have to, to make a decent rate at those tables. Of course if you love poker for the excitement, don't play low limit O8 this as beating those games can be quite dull. Personally, I think if you play a couple tables at a time this is somewhat mitigated and a nearly garanteed win is always nice.

I agree. I've been doing this for a few weeks now after getting over my cold feet about online play, and I can't believe how many people play QT97 for a raise (let alone at all), or even 9875 or K883 utg (seriously). This happens all the way up to $5/10. It's unreal. It's awesome. And playing 2-3 games, I can avoid some of the boredom issues that plague me at casino Omaha.

Hi I'm a newbie here and at O/8 and am curious about your (the community's) expriences at low limits. I'm not sure if it is good form to ask some of these questions, so please let me know if I am out of line.

1) What sorts of win rates are seeing at these levels?
2) How often are you seeing the flop in various positions?
3) Are these games that you can beat by mechanical play or do you require good card sense?
4) How would you advise playing in these games?

Online, up to 3/6, around 2 BB/hr, but with major fluctuations given the looseness of the games. Keep in mind that the rate is also higher because of the speed of online games. Drops down to around 1 1/2 BB/hr/table if I'm playing 3 tables, though I have a limited sample size.

My records aren't as good here, but I'd estimate around 20% or so outside of the blinds. Maybe a little less. Depends on the answer to question #3...

You can beat them by mechanical play. That said, you can beat them for more if you have good card sense. You can also play a little looser if you have good card sense. But using good card sense usually will require that you're not playing lots of tables simultaneously. If you aspire to play in live games, I'd recommend sticking to a single table and trying to develop your skills as opposed to just mechanically playing only A2/A3 combos.

See my answer to #3.
