I'm going to be able to play Sept 30 through Oct 2nd, which is Thursday through Saturday. Does anyone know if any regular tournaments at the downtown casinos, thanks.

I'm going out in 3 weeks myself and I just googled Binions and the Golden Nugget and both of them look like they have some decent tournies every day. I'm almost wishing I was staying downtown instead of the Strip.

I was just there week before last and Binions had a daily 2PM no limit tournament with $60 buy in for 1000 chips or $70 for 1500 chips I believe. Dealers said it pays an average of over $2000 to win every day depending on number of entrants and usually takes 5 hours to complete. Top ten players in the money. I had other plans and couldn't play but sure will try it next trip out in a couple months

Oh yeah, is downtown pretty safe? Can I walk around in the middle of the night by myself safely?

As long as you stay on Freemont Street (where Nugget and Horseshoe are located), the area is fine. I personally don't like to leave that area.

I always park in the Main Street Station parking lot where you can usually find plenty of spaces for free and is only one block walk to the Binions card room entrance. Me and the wife did it many times, leaving Binions at 2 or 3 in the morning back in May for the WSOP and never felt a problem. Once out on Freemont street it has very bright lights and no potential problems 24 hours a day at least where we walk in the Binions/Nugget area of Freement street.
