Re: Couple of hands, were these the right lines?
Hand 1:
I think that this hand was pretty straightforward and that you played it fine. PF raise - good. Flop raise with top pair and backdoor flush draw - good. Turn raise with top pair and flush draw - good. River bet with nut flush - How could you go wrong? LOL. Hand 2: This hand is a bit trickier. The PF raise was fine and the flop bet with top pair and an OESD was obviously correct. The J pairing on the turn, was not a good card for you, as it could have given either of your opponents trips. However as they both showed weakness by checking to you, I would have bet the turn. If you were then check-raised on the turn, I would have called as you still had 8 outs to a straight ([img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] outs might not have been good) and 2 outs to the best possible full-house. On the river, when BB and UTG+1 both woke up to bet and raise after having called the whole way until then, I think that you were correct to fold. HU one of them might have been bluffing, but with 2 players betting and raising I think that it was almost definite that you were beaten. |

Re: Couple of hands, were these the right lines?
These are both interesting hands:
Hand #1 - the turn is close, but I would call this stop & go. Most players won't do this on a flush draw, so most of the time he either has something at least as good as 2-pair, or he has garbage. Since it's very unlikely he has a [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] draw or KQ, he doesn't have many outs if you're ahead; and I wouldn't want to get 3-bet, which can certainly happen on this board. Hand #2 - This is swell. This turn is also close IMO. I'd hate to have to call a C/R here, especially given that our straight draw might only get us a chop if we hit. If nobody raises in front of you on the river, it's an easy call. UTG+1 clearly whiffed on his C/R and you didn't pay him off on the river - good job. I think betting the turn might be the correct play, but my problem then is after you get C/R'd do you call the river bet when the brick hits? I really don't know. How's that for weak-tight advice? Re: Couple of hands, were these the right lines?
Hand 1: Perfecto.
Hand 2: You really gotta bet the turn. You're missing a lot of value by letting this check through. You have good outs, even if they have a jack. And they don't usually won't have a jack. River action looks fine. |

Re: Couple of hands, were these the right lines?
Hand 2
TURN: I would bet. Hand plays differently from there on. I would probably call down a checkraise which might be a mistake. If it were check-raised and check-REraised, I would fold it there. RIVER: Fold looks good. It looks like both opponents wanted to check-raise you on the turn, but you let them down by calling. I would have called one bet, but not a bet and a raise with the possibility of a 3bet and cap. Note: best to stop the action where you want comments on your decision so you don't influence the comments with future betting action or results. |
