time to give up on maddux?
Maddux
so he's on my fantasy baseball team b/c i thought he'd be a stabalizing factor for my pitching staff, but lately he's doing more harm than good. the league's a head-to-head standard 5x5 (w, sv, whip, era, k) and the rest of my staff consists of clemens, myers, capuano, woody williams, halsey, arroyo, escobar, haren, stauffer, blanton, mitre, and smoltz (who i just got in a trade for izzy--i've given up on saves). so, time to cut bait or is he gonna have a sub-4 era the rest of the way? |

I'd keep him, he's always been a lot better post-ASB.

Dump Maddux, he's done for. [/ QUOTE ] that's what i was thinking. the only thing that's way off his previous couple years is WHIP, ERA and opp BA. the others aren't great, but they aren't terrible |

Re: time to give up on maddux?
When you're Greg Maddux and just barely hanging on like he is, any small dip in peformance will have very bad results.
2004 K/G: 6.58 2005 K/G: 5.44 2004 BB+HBP/G: 1.83 2005 BB+HBP/G: 1.98 2004 K/BB: 3.6 2005 K/BB: 2.75 The only thing he's improved upon... 2004 HR/G: 1.53 2005 HR/G: 1.29 His velocity has dropped to 86 MPH. Lefties who throw below 86 MPH are "crafty." Righties who throw below 86 MPH are "crappy." |
