You asked for it...
Here's a hand from a recovering lurker/6max beginner:
SB is loose, but not a donk. MP is unknown. I don't like folding for one bet, but I don't see how I can be ahead of both of these guys. PokerStars 2/4 Hold'em (6 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is UTG with T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Hero raises, MP calls, 2 folds, SB 3-bets, 1 fold, Hero calls, MP calls. Flop: (10 SB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players) SB bets, Hero raises, MP calls, SB 3-bets, Hero folds Standard? |

Re: You asked for it...
Bad flop fold. You have the odds to peel and try and hit your set on the turn. If the pot was smaller then your fold is OK.

Re: You asked for it...
Hmm...I'm getting 16:1 immediately and almost certainly 17:1 when MP calls. Implied odds are probably large. What is your threshold for calling if you're only giving yourself 2 outs?

Re: You asked for it...
if the board wasn't so dry this would be an easy peal. as it stands, its really close

Re: You asked for it...
Aside from the implied odds from hitting a set on the turn, I see 3 arguments in favor of calling the flop 3 bet:
1. A 9 or J will give you odds to call a turn bet. 2. A few percent of the time SB will check the turn. 3. You don't want to people to view you as too weak and be constantly taking shots at you on the flop. This is because against a player like you who can fold pairs, people do not bluff enough. I think these add up to a pretty clear peel on the flop. ZZZ Edited for grammar. |

Re: You asked for it...
Good point, but I still like this argument only because it's close anyway.
