55 30-60 small blind last minute change of plans
good commerce 30 game. i have 55 in the $20 sb. button open limps. this guy is really bad pretty weak very loose. i raise w/ 5c5h. bb who is random novice not very loose and he's either with his wife or a hooker i cant tell, he 3 bets, button calls, and i call.
the flop is AhQh3s. i check, bb bets, button calls, i decide to call. the turn is Ad. i check with the intention of folding but it's checked around. the river is 4h. i check with the intention of folding, but then bb surprises me by checking again. im about 90% sure he has a pocket pair bigger than mine with a 10% chance of KQ or some other random hand. so now button bets. well given the way he's played this hand vs. other hands ive played with him in the last hour he's a favorite to have absolutely nothing. he wouldve played a flush draw faster on the flop, he wouldve raised preflop with an A, he wouldve bet the turn with a Q, stuff like that. so when he bets it all comes together and i checkraise. my sense is that bb has lost interest in his hand and while he may overcall if i call, he will fold if i checkraise. both my opponents may think i have a heart flush or full house or something. what do you think? did it work? was it worth trying? |

Re: 55 30-60 small blind last minute change of plans
Given your description it seems like a well thought out play.
Were either of them good enough to realise that you wouldn't play an Ace this way? |

Re: 55 30-60 small blind last minute change of plans
I like the move, but i only have attempted at lower stakes games like 5-10. I think given your read, it may work enough to be profitable. It's one of those situations where you get the BB out with a hand that could beat you because the BB doesnt wanna call two bets and the Button could be bluffing. Interested to see how it worked out.

Re: 55 30-60 small blind last minute change of plans
Can you explain your thinking on the flop?
EDIT: Well, I guess you knew button didn't have an A from the preflop action, and perhaps not a Q given the lack of a flop raise. So you were calling based on the chance of turning a set or gutshot draw plus bluff equity, I think. |

"So you were calling based on the chance of turning a set or gutshot draw plus bluff equity, I think."
the bluff equity part was very small. the chance of turning a set and the chance of making a running flush with my 5h and having it be good were in there. also backdoor straight draw. i wasnt planning to call no matter what if i picked up a backdoor draw but to assess things when the time came/if it came. one thing i had working for me that helped me decide to call was that my opponents played poorly and passively after the flop. so i figured it was a good time to peel getting 11-1 closing the action. |

[ QUOTE ] *yawn* [/ QUOTE ] bad call on the flop tho. [/ QUOTE ] No it isn't. The way the rest of the hand played out should show why. |
