Boring and unoriginal
If I can just be told one more time the best way to play this, I'll never post anything like it again.
I've had a spate of these over the last week or so...is getting it all in on the flop the right move? I'm going to be up against both flush and straight draw, but surely top set can't be in that bad shape the majority of the time? PokerStars Pot-Limit Omaha High, $0.25 BB (9 handed) converter SB ($22.20) BB ($18.50) UTG ($17.90) UTG+1 ($21.70) adam74 ($28.35) MP2 ($46.90) MP3 ($42.85) CO ($30.85) Button ($14.50) Preflop: adam74 is MP1 with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. UTG raises to $0.75, UTG+1 calls $0.75, adam74 calls $0.75, MP2 calls $0.75, 2 folds, Button calls $0.75, SB calls $0.65, BB calls $0.50. Flop: ($5.25) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (7 players) SB checks, BB bets $5, UTG calls $5, UTG+1 folds, adam74 raises to $25, MP2 raises to $46.15, Button folds, SB folds, BB calls $12.75 (All-In), UTG calls $12.15 (All-In), adam74 calls $2.60 (All-In). Turn: ($113.90) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players, 3 all-in) River: ($113.90) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players, 3 all-in) Final Pot: $113.90 Results in white below: BB has 9d 9h 3c 3s UTG has Ah Ad 7c 4h MP2 has Qh Jh Td 9c Outcome: MP2 wins $113.90. So there was no-one drawing to clubs. A crazy call by the guy with the aces, not surprising to see the guy with middle set calling. Very annoying for me that he had 9933, with a 9 on the flop and a 3 on the turn. Plenty of equity for me in this example, despite the 9933 hand, I guess cos no-one was drawing to the flush - although giving UTG the ace of clubs only reduces my equity (on the flop) from 47.7% to 40.2% - but I can't imagine I'd always be this well off. Here's a cunningly constructed example of how bad it could have been for me... Two Dimes What do people think about MP2's play? Seemed a bit too gung-ho without the backing of a flush draw, which he surely has to assume is out there. |

Re: Boring and unoriginal
I am only responding since you promissed not to post these kinds of hands again...
You could raise with any set, the nut/second flush draw, top two pair, and 8910J... UTG hand is marginal with the flush draw out, but he is getting 3-1 on his money so he may even have +EV. |

I am only responding since you promissed not to post these kinds of hands again... [/ QUOTE ] Very gracious of you. I guess what I'd like to know is whether or not I might be better just calling on the flop. Obviously MP2 might have raised anyway, in which case I call, regardless of what the other two do. But if I call, maybe so does he. In which case... There'd be $25 in the pot on the turn. Aces guy doesn't bet again cos he knows he's beaten. Middle set guy doesn't bet cos he's not sure about his hand. I bet $25. Straight draw guy folds, cos he's only got 9 outs (not including straightening clubs). The other two call and I win...hurrah! [ QUOTE ] UTG hand is marginal with the flush draw out, but he is getting 3-1 on his money so he may even have +EV. [/ QUOTE ] I can't see how UTG possible has a call here. He can't think his hand is good and he only has two outs, plus a backdoor draw to a non-nut straight. |

Re: Boring and unoriginal
Sorry, I was commenting on MP2's hand the wrap draw you asked about in the post.
