Default Party .5/1 VS 1/2

Are the players in 1/2 games alot "better" or tighter then the bottom rung players?

I'm beating .50/1 and moving up to 1/2 would double my rakeback for sure, would my BB/100 suffer much?
Currently I'm at 2.8BB/100. That is with only 11K hands, but I was playing .50/1 for a long time without PT and was cashing out consistent profits.
My current roll is standing at $684

The 1/2 is a signifigant difference. You can still find some really easy, loose games. But you will find more 15-20% tables vs the 35-40% I prefer. My first shot at 1/2 I was running at 5 BB/100 over 15K hands (and 10.3 BB/100 over the last 5K) and I made the jump, lose 250 in 3 nights and went back to 50/1.00.

I made the jump again recently and it has gone better, but I limited my table selection, and cut down on my VP$IP. (at $0.50/1.00 my VP$IP was close to 25, with a PFR of 10. At 1/2 I am closer to 20, with a PFR of 11).

At 2.8 BB/100 you are not really crushing the $0.50/1.00 game, I would suggest waiting till you are running at around 4-5 BB/100 over 5-10K hands, expect to drop to close to 0 BB/100 for awhile at 1/2 and then get the hang of it and zone in around 3 BB/100 once you get going.

They are moderately better. Why don't you move up and take a shot, try risking 100BB, if you drop 100BB move back down and make it back. I'm sure you'll find the game quite beatable and won't look back.

I made the jump to 1/2 after 5,000 hands;I was over 4BB/100, and I played a tighter game than you (20 VP$IP).

While I played tighter yet at 1/2, (17 VP$IP), I still was down 300 BB over 6000 hands (-6BB/100) before I went back down to .5/1.

I am rebuilding my confidence and getting my overall BB/100 to greater than 4 before I go back up.

Good luck.

1/2 won't double your rakeback, the increase will be about 30%.

The best way to estimate rakeback is to look at the average pot size and compare at the levels. You will notice pot size does not double going from 0.50/1.00 to 1/2. Heck.. I don't even think it doubles going from 0.50/1.00 to 2/4 in some cases! I have seen $15 avg pot's at $0.50/1.00 and you definately won't see 30 dollar pots at 2/4 all the time.
