Default Stupid sweat question

I feel stupid asking this, but...what does a "sweat" involve? I've seen the posts...does this simply mean watching someone play? Or does the person being sweated use chat or AIM to tell his hole cards so those watching know what he has?

And why is called "sweating"?

From Dan's Poker Dictionary:

Sweat
To sweat someone is to watch them play from the rail, in order to lend your support.
