Default JJ against a never-raise

villain has literally not raised this tournament. he limped AA earlier this level.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (4 handed) converter

SB (t1880)
Hero (t1070)
UTG (t3900)
Button (t1150)

Preflop: Hero is BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
UTG raises to t400, 2 folds, hero?

how did he get such a big stack? limped and hit flops?

did he just win a hand to get that big stack? if so, he may now be switching gears to wield his big stack...

he may also limp his monsters and raise his decent hands (low pp, at, etc)

he also min-raised here

i think clear push if aa/kk/qq...i prolly push jj as well, tho it's tougher

A read can not matter in this situation. Unless you've played 18037340 tournies with him and he is the god father of your kids and he told you his cards. You have 5 bb's and JJ, this is a definite push against anyone. You even said he limped AA.

yes, but even the tightest of the tight recognize the opportunities short-handed, with rising blinds.

JJ with 5bb's, 1 of which is already in the pot. no shame in crash&burning with this one. call.

i think calling is bad. push / fold is the only play at this point. you are on the bubble and big stack is raising almost any 2 imo. i think your jacks are good here, and i push every time. however, there was a thread yeasterday covering this, where people where even suggesting even tighter calling standards 4 handed.. which i didn't agree. you are afraid of 3 hands right now, and with his range being wider than the grand canyon, i shove every time. i don't care if its harrington, i am getting my money in here quickly

If this guy is a never-raiser, I'm thinking that this raise is more of a steal attempt than average. He's thinking, i haven't raised, these people think i'm insanely tight after limping with pocket aces and I've got a huge stack so no one's going to want to mess with me. He's probably got something decent, but I think there's a good chance you're dealing with one overcard or a smaller pocket pair. I push.
