Default AKo Late In MTT

I played this at a friends house so I don't have the hand history, but i'll try to piece it together.

I have about 3,500 with 6 people left in a 20 person, $20 dollar buy-in at PartyPoker. Top 4 paid.

Blinds at 150-300.
I pick up AKo in the SB, folded to Dealer who calls.
I raise to 900.
BB (3,800) calls, Dealer folds.

Flop comes 245.
I bet half the pot here and he calls.
Unfortunetly I feel that I have no choice but to check the turn (7), as I've already put in a nice amount of chips here and i've put him on a mid pocket pair that he won't lay down. So I check-fold the turn and leave myself with just under 2,000.

Thanks.

Im suprised he didnt just move in on that flop personally with a mid pair. You are pretty screwed check it down unless you feel like a push will make him fold at least 50% of the time.
