I have been on a miserable cold streak for all of 2005. I am seriously starting to doubt my ability to play poker. Stud8 is the only game I have confidence in right now and I am still losing! I feel like I am playing a fundamentally sound game but it just seems like I brick on every [censored] street! If I do somehow make a hand it is a something like an 87 low and I chop the pot or instead of improving to a wheel with my 5432 I will improve to two pair and get scooping by some guy who called me down with split tens and improved to tens up on the river. I have had minor heaters here and there that give me hope but I just don’t know what I can do. I know I have leaks in my Stud8 game but I am certainly good enough to clean up the 1-2 game! I guess not! I do not want to take a break from poker because I enjoy playing, but I think I might be playing a lot of golf for the next couple weeks! So to you more experienced players how do you deal with these terrible down swings? I have only been playing poker for about 18 months and this is my first real bad streak. I am sooo lost...all comments/flames are appreciated.

I think you need to do what you said and drink some beer [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] You played this hand perfect imo. I play it the same way every time. 8/B is supposed to have less variance, but man some days I don't know. Some days when it seems like you can never get more than half when you are way ahead and when you are drawing to half you can get that either. Just keep playing solid and everything else will follow.
