Tony Dungy\'s son found dead in Florida
This isn't really sporting events, but I'm posting it here b/c it is news from the sporting event world, and unfortunately will have some affect on the sporting world.
Many condolences; what a tragedy to lose an 18 year old son. |

[/ QUOTE ] It's a bit macabre, but I think it's particularly helpful at this point that they lost last week's game, since I think there will be less pressure on Dungy to get back immediately, and hopefully less crazy intense media coverage, though I think I'm being unrealistic on that last one. Being in the public sphere and having to deal with such a thing just seems really awful. |

Damn. That's a sad way to spend the holidays. Parents shouldn't have to see their children die. I offer my condolences as well.

Very tragic, I just hope Dungy doesn't feel obliged to return back to the team immedeatley because of their success this season.

Jesus.
Man, I guess that kid took the first Colts loss of the season pretty badly. But seriously... that's just awful. How can Dungy even coach in the playoffs? This kind of thing must lurk in your brain for so long that you can't concentrate on anything. I don't see him being able to fully coach smoothly until next season at the earliest. |

Those were my thoughts as well. I mean, I don't have kids, but I imagine I would be almost immobile for a while. And certainly an emotional cripple.
Luckily for the Colts (I guess) is that they have a good staff of assistants, Peyton Manning, and if they weren't sufficiently motivated before, they damn sure better be now. |
