I was wondering if I you guys could give me a little help. I was wondering if anyone could suggest a poker book or two to read specializing in no limit hold 'em. I have Brunson's, Harrington both volumes, and Caro's book of tells. I'm looking for some expert knowledge but pretty general expert knowledge, not specializing in tells or psychology and stuff like that. Any help is much appreciated. thx

IMHO I think everyone should read "Small stakes holdem" by Ed Miller. It has helped my poker game then anyother book I've read.

I agree with Combusted. I was referred to SSHE many times and recently got the book. I am just inthe beginning, but it seems to address many of the questions that I have had regarding the games I play. Good luck.

While I thank you for your suggestion, I know not all Texas Hold'em books are created equal. I was hoping to hear from some players how the books are; not just look at the list of books on two plus two. I just wanted to be sure I could get the most value for a book rather than buy a book that helps less than simply putting that money at the table and gaining more experience by playing w/ that.

What are you asking? My first poker book was by Ken Warren. Then I bought Lee Jones "Winning Low Limit Holdem", borrowed HEFAP, and bought SSHE. The most helpful was SSHE. That may be because I understood the game better, but I think it's just the best book for low limits.
If you've never read a poker book, unless you're a natural poker genius, any of these will help. That said, I still recommend SSHE over any of the others listed. |

SSH is a great book but I don't think it will help you too much.
I suggest Pot Limit & No Limit Poker by Bob Ciaffone and Stewart Reuben. |

Best cash game NLHE material is Ciaffone/Reuben's chapters in NL & PL Poker.
Super System chapter is good too. Sklansky & Miller are working on a Theory of NLHE that is due out this Spring. For NLHE tourneys, the Harrington books + Tournament Poker for Advanced Players are the best 2+2 books. The best non 2+2 tourney books are Kill Phil and Phil Gordon's Little Green Book. Best tourney DVDs are Lederer's More Secrets to NLHE and Phil Gordon's Final Table Poker. |
