Default In Between

For the people who play this cool game:
How far apart should the cards be (in value) to bet for the next to be in between the two?
How large should the pot be (w/ 25c min. chips) to try and gap?
When is calling above or below on pairs a good bet?

With the king being high and the ace being low then you need a gap of at least seven clear cards to bet the pot anything less and you should bet the minimum.

For example,
K9 bet the minimum. A9 bet the pot/pool.

If the card you are betting to be in between pairs one of the border cards, is there a penalty? (The only time I ever played this, years ago, if you put money for the card to come in between and it paired, you had to pay double. That changes strategy considerably.)

Oh, one other thing: your odds are going to depend on what cards have been burned, you need to dynamically change your criteria.

I have always played where if the ace comes out first you can call high or low, but if it comes out second then it is automatically high.

This means AA is the best spread and any other pair is the worst.

Between. . . .Double. . . .Bad. . . Good . .EX
12 . . . . . . . . . 2 . . . . .0. . . . .48... . AA
11 . . . .. . . . . .6 . . . . .0 . . . . 44... . 2A
10 . . . . . . . . . 6 . . . . .4 . . . . 40 ... 2K
9 . . . . . . . . . .6 . . . . .8 . . . . 36 .... 2Q
8 . . . . . . . . . .6 . . . . .12. . . . 32 .... 2J
7 . . . . . . . . . .6 . . . . .16. . . . 28 .... 2T
6 . . . . . . . . . .6 . . . . .20. . . . 24 .... 29
5 . . . . . . . . . .6 . . . . .24. . . . 20 .... 28
4 . . . . . . . . . .6 . . . . .28. . . . 16 ..... 27
3 . . . . . . . . . .6 . . . . .32. . . . 12 ..... 26
2 . . . . . . . . . .6 . . . . .36. . . . .8 ..... 25
1 . . . . . . . . . .6 . . . . .40. . . . .4 ..... 24
0 . . . . . . . . . .6 . . . . .44. . . . .0 ...... 23

This is assuming the start of the deck, but if you can count card this will change. Now to do the math:

For simplicity lets say there is 1$ in the pot and you bet pot each time. Over 50 times:

With a 12 in-between you win 1$ 48 times and lose 2$ twice for a net of 44$
WIth an 11 IB you win 1$ 44 times lose 2$ 6 times for a net of 32$.
With a 10 IB you win 1$ 40 times lose 1$ 4 times and lose 2$ 6 times for a net of 24$.
so on and so on until
Spread of 7 you win 1$ 28 times l$ 16 times and lose 2$ 6 times for a net of 0$. That means with a spread of seven it is break even money. To win at this game you need to wait until you a spread of eight or better and bet pot. So decrease your variance just choose spreads with more gaps.
