How badly did I shank this TPTK?
Just sat down; villan is 33/13 and BB is about 24/6, both over only 6 hands, so no real data.
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (9 handed) converter saw flop|<font color="#C00000">saw showdown</font> BB ($21.80) UTG ($25.85) <font color="#C00000">Hero ($31.70)</font> MP1 ($15.70) <font color="#C00000">MP2 ($0)</font> MP3 ($24.70) CO ($33.35) <font color="#C00000">Button ($29.80)</font> SB ($25.05) Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.10. <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $1</font>, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, Button calls $1, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">BB raises to $2.75</font>, Hero calls $2, Button calls $2. --> I just called, but I don't think a re-raise here would have been a terrible mistake. Thoughts? Flop: ($9.10) 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font> <font color="#CC3333">BB bets $7</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $14</font>, --> Should I have just pushed or folded right here? I don't have any real data to work with, but I wasn't at this point quite willing to give BB credit for having the best hand. Button calls $26.80 (All-In), BB folds, --> Clear fold? I'm figure I'm probably beat at this point, but i'm getting about 5:1, so I need 4 outs. I've probably got two against a set and 5 against two pair. Hero calls $12.80. Turn: ($69.70) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players, 1 all-in)</font> River: ($69.70) 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players, 1 all-in)</font> Final Pot: $69.70 So how did I screw this up? |

Re: How badly did I shank this TPTK?
Villian had AA, right? Not many hands will re-raise here except AA, KK or AK. So probably best you can hope for here is a split... but I say you're way behind here without a read. I'd fold the flop bet, and I don't like calling the PF re-raise with AK either as it's likely dominated... that's my opinion.

There are 9 ways to make 2 pairs without the king (Q7), and 12 ways to make it with a king (K7 and KQ). Also, KQ is a much more likely holding than the other 2. Against most likely 2 pair hands, you have 3 outs, which isn't enough. Against a set, you are drawing to runner-runner, not 2 outs. Pairing your king just fills him up. |

[/ QUOTE ] I largely discounted big pairs (AA, KK and QQ) because he didn't reraise preflop (although many people do try to trap in that situation). This is the $25 buyin game at party, so I figured probably K7s, Q7s, KQ, Kx, Qx, or perhaps 77. As it turns out, villan had KQ for top two pair. Anyway, it appears I just overplayed this and need to learn when to get away from TPTK. |
