Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 5 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. MP posts a blind of $5.

Without reads I bet and call a check raise. I think we'll see a lower two pair often enough, since there is QJ89 on the board. If we get CRed, I'd guess he has a lower two pair maybe 15-20% of the time?, definitely more than the odds we get to call the CR.

Bet/fold.

Since you have no read on him, this hand is a tough one. I can't imagine him check/raising you on the river with less than two-pair or the straight.

I would bet and call a raise. With no preflop raises, I can see a naked A thinking he has the best hand HU often enough to offset the loses that come when he has a T. A read would really help (if he is the sort not to raise a hand like A8o against a poster and SB-complete I'd be a bit more worried, and I might be more willing to check through). In sum, I think you need to value bet this and I think if you are C/R'd you are better off calling than folding because I don't think he has a T or an A 2-pair hand often enough to fold getting 7.5:1 on the call HU.

I'm starting to wonder if all I do is post close decisions that don't matter either way cause the EV is so close. Diverging opinions so far.

Some things to consider, many people would bet with a T. A river CR is scary. We get 8-1 odds to call a river CR. Does the average party 5/10 (I'm readless here) ever bluff check raise the river or check raise a 4 straight board with a worse hand?

Bet-call. Most people bet out when they hit their one card straight because they are afraid you will check behind.
