Default Is this turn spewing?

The villian in this hand has been making life hell for me. He has called when I wanted him to raise, fold when I wanted a call. He was very loose PF with average aggression, but a bit tighter post-flop, mainly due to the fact that we were shorthanded before, but he never reverted back to FH mode (my guess.) Other players in this hand are weak/tightish, more emphasis on the weakness. This may be one of those standard hands that I think are really debatable, but it's not at all. Thanks for the imput.

I have A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] in EMP

Folds to me, I raise, villian makes it 3 to my immediate left, CO calls, SB calls.

Flop:

5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Checks to me, I bet, all call.

Turn 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

BB checks, I bet, villian calls, rest fold.

River A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I bet, villian thinks and calls.

Spew or standard?

What do you hope to accomplish by betting into the preflop raiser on each street?

Exactly. Reading the hand I was hoping someone had brought this up.

I bet into him on the flop to try to get him to raise to drive the rest of the players out of the hand.

I bet the turn because I figured I had everyone else beat, and could possibly move the PFR off AK.

I should have check-called the river in retrospect. I don't see him calling here with a worse hand very often.

I would not call this spewing. You did good to get HU after the turn and you got lucky to spike the ace on the river, but that is what you are betting on, a weak draw to top pair.

What would you have done if the river had been a blank for you?

I think you'll get called by a high pocket pair here which might check behind on the river.

Check and fold. There would be no way I would be ahead against this particular player.

ace-high hands with no pair depend a lot on your rhythm at the table. sometimes you fire one barrel, sometimes two, sometimes three. a lot depends on your image and you read on the particular guys, particularly as they relate to you. clarkmeister just posted I think that in his opinion not enough people fire the third barrel, to push out the under pairs. maybe. though a lot of party hacks call down any pair every time. but--not if you've been running over them with the goods ever time.
