Early in 55s. confusing AQ BB hand that I butchered.
Early in tourney, no reads. I decided to check the blind with AQ. It's not a standard check, but many times I do from the blinds this early in the tourney. Im not happy with my turn bet. I should of bet more, but 4 tabling and talking on the phone dont help. Anyways, Do you call his turn raise?, reraise or fold???? comments appreciated.

yeah cause you didnt raise preflop there are just too many hands that beat you here, you gotta lay it down.

Re: Early in 55s. confusing AQ BB hand that I butchered.
I'd give it up. A limper this early in tourney could have easily picked up 2-pair/straight on the turn.
Personally, I'd look to c/r the flop (been saying a lot of this lately ). With just him and the blinds, you can be reasonably certain to get some action on this flop. Given the opportunity, I'd hit him pretty hard. Out of position to the turn with a call isn't much fun. I'd c/r the flop "new-pot"+. With the call of your pot-sized flop lead...you do still need to lead this turn. It might be a little weak (looks like 1/2 pot'ish) - but I think he's moving here with a genuine hand ("modest" reraise vs. a push). No worries folding here. |

i would've raised pf. [/ QUOTE ] thats obviously not part of the equation here. i stated that i chose not to raise here. actually, ive been tinkering with raising less often from the blinds early on and it has been working great for me. it helps alot because you dont get married to hands when the stacks are so deep. btw i did fold this hand. |

Personally, I'd look to c/r the flop [/ QUOTE ] I agree with this. Although there are draws out there, I don't mind checking the flop from the blinds because a single limper almost always bets when the blinds check to him. This way you can C/R him and take the pot down immediately, or if not you will have a better idea of where you are on the turn. |

Re: Early in 55s. confusing AQ BB hand that I butchered.
i think this play is fine. I play passively in the blinds w/ troublesome hands like AQ sometimes when the blinds are very low -- in fact, if you'd raised here, you probably wouldn't have got rid of the guy and just made the pot so big you'd have to go broke w/ TPTk.
You kept the pot small and allowed yourself to get away from the hand. The only thing I might do is overbet the pot on the flop, like 65 or so. -- with deep stacks people will call with weak holdings despite the odds they are getting. |
