Your opponents river check is so wierd given the rest of the hand. At first glance you'd have to put your opponent on trip 3s or rolled 6s. Probably rolled 6s. But why doesn't bet the river I have no idea.

Its not like he can put you on a draw. And obviously you think your Kings (probably up) might be good enough. So I don't know why he wouldn't value bet trips there.

I'm guessing this is a hand that made you go into your notes.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. One way or another, the opponent played poorly. Given that, I'm going to guess he was just being a maniac. But who can say?

I think this is one of those cases where your opponent likes his hand so much, but is ignoring the fact that you have a paired door card with kings.. I've seen people slow play trips, and then go crazy when their opponent pairs their door with likely bigger trips.

The exact same thing happened to me a while ago. I didn’t know my opponent too well, but from what I’d seen he wasn’t exactly solid. IIRC, I just 3-bet on 4th, bet 5th and 6th and checked the river (to avoid being raised by a boat if he really did start rolled up and filled). He showed down unimproved aces.
Don’t know if that’s a good approach though… I was just thinking “You’re trying to buy a free card? Well then [censored] you, take this!”. [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

I think your opponent has trips (6s or 3s) but decided not to bet the river because you might have trip Ks.

From your opponent's point of view, you raised first in with the lone high card giving you a "steal" opportunity. Villain does not have to give you trip Kings on 4th and can play back at you at that point with Aces, 2 small pairs, or maybe villain is even trying to move you off your hand semi-bluffing with 3-4-5-6. Yes villain can have trips, but there are enough other possibilities that I would have paid off. Plus you can always improve to a full-house. The check on the river makes me believe you won.
