Default 5/10: AKo UI calldown

Villain is a TAG. Now when I look back at the hand I should have folded the river right? Does raising the flop make any sense?

Absolute 5/10

Villain opens in mp , Hero 3bets with A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] , Villain caps

flop: 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Villain bets, hero calls

turn: 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Villain bets, hero calls

river: 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Villain bets, hero calls

This line may seem very passive, but I think it's pretty good against a TAG right? (but with a riverfold)

I dunno I think if you're going to take it that far, you gotta call the river. I don't mind this line as he may have AJ/AQ here enought to warrant a call-down.

Villain capped preflop and it didn't look like a steal raise. You're behind to his hand range here, fold the turn.

I fold the turn. If I have a read that says he will bet all the way down with AQ/AJ then I may call down.

If you think you should fold the river UI, fold the turn UI as well - you don't have the odds to draw even if all 6 of your outs were good.

For a typical TAG villain, you would be ahead of *maybe* AQ, KQs and AJs. You are behind a hell of a lot more than that.

Since you have position, raise the flop. A 3bet will tell you that your behind and if its called you may get a free card.

As you played it, I fold the turn. Its a small pot and its not worth paying 2BB to get to showdown. Make a move with this hand or drop it

yup, this is one of those hands where you decide on the turn to either showdown, or fold.

--blind response--

aganst a lag or a passive guy I tend to raise the flop, check through the turn, and call a river bet, as this progression of events occurs almost all the time when UI overs battle: [bet,raise,call/check,check/bet,call] This both nets me the most and gets me to showdown.

If I just call the flop bet, then I'm inducing another bet from the turn with most UI overcards, which puts me in a tough spot because made hands would have to take the same line.

Against a tag, I think you're correct in assesing the river as a fold - as many tags will give up a bluff when you show that you're going to call down. He has no reason to think that you are on less than good overs or an underpair, and his river bet suggests that it is for value.

Against lags or trickier players you may have to call though.

Against passives and fish the turn is a fold.
