Default Bet out with 9\'s here?

Originally was hoping to flop a set, but the flop enticed me to bet out. Only level 2 in the tourney, but have played against villain once before and he's a little too liberal with his raises. How awful was the bet out here?

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t30 (10 handed)

SB (t430)
BB (t195)
UTG (t965)
Hero (t745)
UTG+2 (t805)
MP1 (t905)
MP2 (t1585)
MP3 (t640)
CO (t895)
Button (t835)

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
UTG folds, Hero calls t30, UTG+2 raises to t85, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, MP3 folds, CO folds, Button folds, SB folds, BB folds, Hero calls t55.

Flop: (t215) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets t225, UTG+2 raises to t450, Hero folds.

Final Pot: t890
Main Pot: t665 (t665), won by UTG+2.
Pot 2: t225 (t225), returned to UTG+2.

Results in white below:
No showdown. UTG+2 wins t890.

You put in about 11% of your stack to flop a set (7% after calling the first 30). I think this is a huge mistake in any tourney, but especially in a SnG, where you only have a small amount of chips to play with. Since you donīt have too much of a read on UTG+2 Iīd recommend folding 99 out of position for such a big raise (compared to stacksizes). Wait for better chances or positions where you put your money in.

On the flop you bet about pot and now have already over 40% of your stack in the pot. No way I fold my overpair here against a player whom I consider too liberal with his raises.

I think it would be easyer here to raise first in preflop and muck to a big reraise. Against a small/medium reraise I might go for a stop and go strategy if heads up.

Just my thoughts

99 is too good of a hand to limp with here. i usually play pokerstars, which you start out with 1500, and there i would limp. but with only 745 and the second level i would raise out of the box.

That said the flop bet is correct. you have an overpair and if your opponent had AQ or AK or some similar hand it is tough for him to call. his reraise means a pair higher than yours most times so the fold is an easy one.

bad call preflop and horrible bet on the flop. About half the time your hand is no good. The rest of the time you may against a flush draw with over cards or a loose aggressive player.
