Overraising preflop
If you're playing at a no-limit game where the blinds are .05 and .10 why do people insist on raising $3, $4, $5 preflop? I don't get it. You're only going to get called by aces, maybe kings. Yippee, you've stolen the blinds. Good job. Keep up the good work. Sorry for venting, but I'm hoping some beginners read this and realize proper raises are in the .50-$1 range.

You're saying that you want your opponents to play... correctly? Is that it? Um, why? You wouldn't make any money if everyone played correctly. You should welcome people who raise 30x the BB. Then when you get dealt Aces and they've done this then you can just push all in and take their huge raise right there. They might even call your all in. |

Re: Overraising preflop
Dead is correct. What you've found here is a very very boring NL game where you should crush if you can stand to wait around long enough to play correctly. You might have more "fun" against better opponents but it probably won't be as profitable.
Exception: Opponents who can't let go of a hand once it hits the flop in any way, though these are often the same players. |
