Default Tips

Here in the UK tipping the dealer is quite simple: you don't: its illiegal to tip any casino staff.

I'm planning a poker holiday in the USA and would appriciate some advice on tipping in US casinos eg what percentage of a pot is appropiate?

Please not this again.

I see you are new, here is a piece of advice. Please do a search. This topic has been discussed to death ad nasuem for the past 6 months and always degenerates into a flame war. Also, please read the B&M newbie guide at the top, there may be some information there as well.

Right from the sticky at the top of this forum.

Tip the dealers when you win a pot. An extremely large tip is not required, but don't be a stiff either. $1 per pot is somewhat standard, although plenty tip more, especially in larger pots. Stealing the blinds does not require a tip. Tip your waitress for your drinks, and give the chip runner a buck when they bring you your chips! Live cardrooms require tipping!

When in unfamiliar internet territory, please read any FAQs, guides or stickies you can find before posting a possibly routine question.

The search function is also a good alternative to posting simple questions.
