You didn't mention the game limit. Lets use $1/2 or lower as that is where I play.
Hand 1. I am not folding here. I am raising. SB would bet out here with a pair of Q's or maybe J's. The MP raise could just be the same pair but holding a A for a kicker or a straight draw. If you want to find out if one of them has the straight, you need to raise while you are on the cheaper streets. If both just call then we'll just see what to do after the turn is flopped. Hand 2. Although you have a nice hand, I believe a fold is in order. And on that others here may disagree. |

The first fold is horrendous, the 2nd is standard. Has Mikey been mentoring you?

Hand 1. I thought this was one of my best reads in my short poker career!!!!!
(this is the second time ive posted this) I put the SB on Q,J (2 pair) and I put MP on KT (straight), he always raises to eairly . I figureed the best I could hope for is a split pot if im lucky enough to get a runner-runner straight. RESULTS: SB had 99 for a floped set MP had suprise suprise KT for floped nuts turn and river were blanks and MP's straight was good either way neither of them was going to fold |

You would fold AJs with it capped before the flop?!? Maybe if the raisers were super-solid players that play a good tight/aggressive game. But if they're loosie/goosie players who are just gambling, I'd be singing to the heavens inside my head with AJs.

You're putting in 2.5 SBs out of position with an easily dominated hand.

uh, actually I was going to say exactly what you said.
In the games I play in, the flop bettor has a naked "10" (G-d only knows what his other card is . . . The flop raisor has either a "better" "10", a Queen (kicker possibilities = whatever he was dealt), or possibly - but not likely - two pair. "Weighting" these there is no way I can muck A-A here. * I only wish the typical opponents I encounter played their hands as straightforwardly as these two did. * Having said all that, IF "he" knew their styles as well as he says, his powers of observation far exceed mine and he made a GREAT fold. * As for the AJs - I'm not thrilled to play this hand against a double straddle ! No way am I playing it against two players who actually LOOKED at their cards. I am - 1. Out of position 2. Very possibly behind at this point, 3. Cannot get any significant value out of this holding unless I "complete" the hand - st. or fl. - (due, as stated in #1, to my poor position). * Not all L/P raises followed by button 3-bets are made with trash hands. * "Hot and cold" AJs MIGHT play for a profit here, but the post-flop action cripples you. * - H |

Okay then, do you play it with one or two raises in front of you?
