You play this river differently?
Hero is BB w/ K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and $53. Villian1 is MP ($50) and he loves to chase. Villian on the button is 36/2 after 50 hands (with 0 post-flop agg) $50.
Party NL50 Full ring Pre-flop 5 limpers to hero who checks Flop ($3) K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (6 players) SB checks, Hero bets $3, MP and button are only callers. Turn ($12) 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero bets $9, MP calls, button calls. River ($39) 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero checks, MP checks, button bets $22, Hero folds. Thoughts? EDIT: it's not my cup of tea to build a big pot w/ TPGK, but I don't think checking th turn can be right with a known chaser in the hand. |

Re: You play this river differently?
What are you putting villain(s) on that they are ahead of your KQ at the river. I think check-calling the river is fine if the price is okay, which it seems to be here. I can't imagine that two pair or the straight would wait until the river to wake up, so I think your hand is good here a solid percentage of the time.
The only variable that you have to watch out for is the middle player, which is why I like a check-call better than betting out. If MP bets and button calls, then maybe you can drop it, but since MP is checking as well, I think you are chopping or beating a KJ, KT here. -T |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't see why you would bet to protect your hand on the turn if you're going to fold to a relatively harmless river card. Did both of them calling scare you off? I'd check-call the river. |

Re: You play this river differently?
i'm not betting the turn and folding to a bet. 3 diamonds so someone easily could have the flush. several limpers so someone could easily have a set. on the turn, it makes a straight. the only thing you are beating here is a lower pair.

Re: You play this river differently?
No flush on the board. You're beating a weaker K and a bluff from a missed draw. Splitting with KQ.

Re: You play this river differently?
Am I the only one who noticed that the one available straight draw got there on the turn?
This hand is exactly why I hate playing one pair hands in unraised pots. |

[/ QUOTE ] straight is likely to raise the turn with the flush draw 3-way and bet more on the river. not saying straight can't be there, just saying it's not all that likely. a goofy bluff i can see. |

[/ QUOTE ] And this is why there's a saying "never go broke in an unraised pot." There's a clear straight, and a clear flush in a pot where, what, five people limped? You have lost this hand. |
