44, FPS or standard?
Villain is a TAG getting his ass handed to him by the aquatic animals. The rest of the table is plenty loose enough that this preflop call is standard, but this hand the school decided to tighten up.
Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (10 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Hero calls, <font color="#666666">6 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">SB raises</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, Hero calls. Flop: (5 SB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font> <font color="#CC3333">SB bets</font>, Hero calls. Re: 44, FPS or standard?
I don't think this is horrible, but I definitely think this leans a lot more toward FPS than to standard.
Of the hands your opponent is likely to have, even if you are ahead your opponent is chock full o' outs. With a hand like A8 your opponent still has 12 outs to beat you, and from your table description I don't think you'll be able to push your opponent off a hand like that. I don't think this is the time to be getting tricky... and if I was going to get tricky I'd be more likely to do it on the flop than on the turn in this particular case. |

Re: 44, FPS or standard?
I think this is fine.
Raising the turn instead of the flop puts a lot more pressure on him to fold overcards (that have a lot of outs against you) than had you raised the flop. Along these same lines, I would sometimes 3bet preflop, especially against a TAG who is more likely to fold than a loose player. |

Re: 44, FPS or standard?
Isn't it harder for SB to have overcards since he has to have AK or AT?

Re: 44, FPS or standard?
I suppose he'll have a higher pocket pair sometimes too.

It would also be great if he happened to fold TT-77 even a small amount of time. Edit: Ah, misread action. Still I'd raise some suited Aces in his spot also. |

Re: 44, FPS or standard?
I meant higher pocket pairs than 44. If he's capable of folding as such then I like the play.
