Default sit-N-go skill level vs buy-in (**WARNING... poker content**)

i have been coaching my spouse in SnG's. the things i saw today at the $20 level were absolutely astonishing. people calling their whole stack off with 10-Q off preflop etc.

when i want to play relaxing SnG's, i have always played 30s-50s. certainly there are bad players at theses levels, mostly in the 30's. however, it seems like there is this definative drop in skill level from the 30s to the 20s. spouse has not played long, but still is better than 80% of the players at the 20's.

is this the level that players go from horrible to consistent? has anyone else come to the same observation that the players in the 20's are 90% horrible, but as soon as you get to the 30's, it is a massive difference?

i can't imagine what the players in the 5's and 10's are like. it seems like a decent player could decide to do a Daliman (tons of SnG's in a day), stick to the 20 level, and make enough to keep a college kid in all the imported beer he can drink.

oh well, there is my semi-annual poker post. i'm sure this has been discussed 700 times in the SnG forum, but i don't have the password to post there.

Hey Granny,

How come you did not put a spam for http://www.extrapokerchips.com/ in your message? I thought you were going to do that from now on. Just wondering.

it is in my profile. also, when someone is kind enough to ask like you did, i get to use the quote feature.

that site has zero chance with this crowd anyway. it is obviously made for mr. neverplayed

no kickbacks, no schemes. actually, not even any content. that may also explain the fact that the only hits i get are mine.

Hey Granny

I play in SNG tourneys only unless I am clearing a bonus. Ring games are too boring. But I have to play them to get bonuses. My money finish rate is about 90% at Pacific and 89% everywhere else. Players are very weak. Easy money as long as you are patient.

90%? I am easily in the money 98%. The only times I don't make the money are when I disconnect. I think the password is Saucy Lorinda, or is it Strassa says raise all in?

Granny,
On PartyPoker, I don't see much difference in skill between the tournament levels until you get to the $50 site-and-gos where you encounter the occasional non-moron. At PokerStars, the situation is a little less favorablebut the smaller buy-in tournaments are still LOADED with knuckleheads. Overall, though, anything under $50 is easy pickings and even the $50 tournaments are easily profitable for a moderately good player.
