Default I VPIPed with T2o...

I had two poker firsts in one hand!!

This question needs a little background...

I am at a table with a 1 in 1000 type player. He was 75/65/10 (no typo). He saw 95% of showdowns. I'll present two instances of unreal type play:

Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, MP2 calls, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Button raises</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, Hero calls, MP2 calls.

Flop: (6.50 SB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
Hero checks, MP2 checks, <font color="#CC3333">Button bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, MP2 folds, <font color="#CC3333">Button 3-bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero caps</font>, Button calls.

Turn: (7.25 BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Button raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero 3-bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Button caps</font>, Hero calls.

River: (15.25 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">Button bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, Button calls.

Final Pot: 19.25 BB

Results in white below:

Hero has Kd Qd (straight, ace high).
Button has 2s 5h (high card, ace).
Outcome: Hero wins 19.25 BB.

Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP1 3-bets</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">CO caps</font>, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls.

Flop: (13.50 SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>

Turn: (12.75 BB) K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP1 raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">CO 3-bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 caps</font>, MP1 calls, CO calls.

River: (24.75 BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 bets</font>, MP1 calls, <font color="#CC3333">CO raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 3-bets</font>, MP1 calls, <font color="#CC3333">CO caps</font>, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls.

Final Pot: 36.75 BB

Results in white below:
UTG+1 has 2c 3s (one pair, fives).
MP1 has Ks Kh (full house, kings full of fives).
CO has As Ad (full house, aces full of fives).
Outcome: CO wins 36.75 BB.

Poker first #1: This was the first time I ever posted a dead blind. Villian (maniac) sat out, and thus I stopped posting, as I was done when he was done. He then sat back in... and I couldn't wait to get back in the action. This was that hand.

Poker first #2: Well... read the title. I don't do that everyday.

What do you guys think of this preflop call? Mr Pink and I were talking about this player, and he didn't like it.

Clearly, my hand is cheese. But, villian will make a TON of FTOP errors post flop. He will cap betting when I hit the flop hard. I can also showdown any pair at +EV, IMO.

Reads: players behind me are normal to tight. I dont know how much they would change their stats when facing a raise from this villian.

Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is CO with T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Hero posts a blind of $3.
<font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP2 raises</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, Hero (poster) calls...

given that he'll give you infinite action if you hit your hand its an easy call especially if you have position on him and getting 1/2 off.

the preflop call is terrible. the correct answer is to 3bet.

you want to eliminate the blinds and take the idiot heads up.

nice hand

I thought about this.

Does it change your opinion if I say he caps 100% of the time.

no it doesnt. the players behind you are probably going to want to come in and see a flop against the maniac for 1 more bet.

the only reason that i would consider just calling instead of 3betting would be because i cannot get the blinds to fold so i might as well not inflate the pot with such a bad hand.

Why not 3 bet, you might actually ahve the best hand? You've got to consider that against a player like this it will be impossible to get away from your hand cheaply b/c there is a chance you win w/T high.

this is fine unless there are other players behind you who are going to compensate for his loose raising standards. paying 3 bets with this hand would be terrible

as it stands, this is a very marginal call. youre not going to hit a big hand very often with that, and hes not going to give you a free card to a crappy draw. unless you flop a monster like two pair or better, your equity against him will never be that good. even when you go to war with your pair of tens hes going to have some outs against you

I thought about it at the time. I knew I would have to put 4 bets in preflop, and I was afraid of that.

I now feel that I probably should have 3-bet.

Yeah, of course. Play any two cards. Implied odds.

Good luck.

I agree that this is a reasonable decision, but how are you going to play your hand after he caps and you miss? Are you folding flops that miss you? Showing down ten high? Taking one card off?

You are putting yourself in a tough spot that may be positive EV, but which is probably not as good as just calling. I admire your aggression though.

Good luck.
