NL 1000 6-handed. Effective stack is $1k.
UTG limps, I call in CO w/ 44. SB pops it to $35. We both call. The flop is 9s 7s 4h. SB leads for 2/3 of the pot. UTG miniraises. I raise it up about $500. SB folds and UTG pushes. I? I get about 3-1 on the call. |

Call and expect a poorly played overpair. If its set over set theres nothing you can do.

I wouldnt have raised it to $500. Once you do, theres no way you can fold, but I am willing to bet he has a higher set unless you have a read that hes an idiot who overplays.

I agree to 120% that the call getting 3:1 should be obvious?
However, can one get away from this hand on the flop? The board is among the best ones possible but the action? If you think UTG really has a big hand... can you fold this set considering you've invested 14$ total? or is this kind of play terrible? What other potential lines are there? |

I agree... when raising to $500 and totally committing yourself you COULD show enough strength against some opponent so that you only to get called/raised by better hands? Yes/no?
You "HAVE" to call since you've already committed yourself? But this call still feels terrible? How often could one expect to be ahead here? |

What would you do here? I don't see any other line.

Push/fold... by pushing perhaps represent a draw and hopefully make his calling range wider?
Seems you don't have enough of a read to have a reason to avoid shoving it in. If you're beat he's not going anywhere anyway. |
