This game was with overs, EXTREMELY passive, loose game (5-7 people to the flop. It is passive in the realm, that there is a lot of betting, but little to no raising. First hand at the table, Im in the CO and post.
Dealt AT 5 people limp, I check my option. 7 to flop. flop Q T 2, 2 clubs checked around to the guy to my right, he bets, I raise. Knocks everyone out except 2. turn, Q, non club. Checked to me. What do you guys do here, I was a little out of it, and not thinking when I raised the flop, I figured it had some image value as I sat down with a drink in my hand, and was talking loudly etc. I did not have a club in my hands. |

Check and save urself some bets. If u do bet, fold to any check raise and take a free showdown on the river.

Aye, could you comment on the flop too. I ended up checking behind on hte turn, then betting the river, only to be called by the guy who bet the flop who hit his KJo.

Hi ST,
What was the intention of your flop raise? Most plays like this involves thinking you're ahead, therefore, a turn bet is a must. On the other hand, being the passive table as you described, I just don't see how you're ahead on the flop (granted, you guessed right with his KJo). So again, it goes back to betting the turn. Checking should occur on the river, not the turn. |

I estimated my chances of being good there, where 30-40%, as people will bet in this game with anything, but never raise. My thought process, was the fact I may be good, + the fact I now have control over the hand, and could check through. When it was checked to me I figured the chances were 70/30 I was ahead, but for some reason I didnt bet, I should have bet in hindsight I guess.
